• Welcome to Oak Mountain

We hope you'll join us Sunday mornings at 8:15 am or 10:45 am for worship. Our worship style is contemporary, with a programming balance of praise songs and traditional hymns of the Church. Our message each week presents the gospel of grace as it relates to our salvation and to our relationships with God and each other. Sunday School classes meet each week at 9:30 am.

My LIFE! Group Experience by Sarah Hefner

My name is Sarah Hefner, my husband Justin and I came to Oak Mountain by way of our LIFE! Group. We were invited to the May's group two years ago, and quickly found ourselves surrounded by a group of people walking through life in a way similar to us and experiencing similar circumstances. We were most drawn to the way the others candidly spoke about their struggles and disagreements. The group was a real picture of rejoicing with those who rejoice, and mourning with those who mourn.

Sally and Ben May, the couple that has fostered the group for many years, is a life stage ahead of the rest of us. Each of us often goes to them asking for advice, looking to them for their example of how to show Jesus in our marriages, in our jobs and in parenting. They are servant leaders – doing, making and serving, without being asked or asking for anything in return.

I was beginning to fear our group was growing so comfortable with their leadership, that we were coasting and taking for granted that we could absorb rather than contribute. This spring, we have decided to divide some of the responsibilities, like scheduling snacks, championing times of prayer and leading the lessons continuing under the May's leadership and wisdom as they continue to host the group in their home each week.   We are now more grateful for their guidance and insight, as we are all stepping up and contributing, making our group a truer picture of a symbiotic family unit, all giving and investing.

What a lesson to us as we grow in our faith and grow in our families! That even while being ministered to, there are opportunities to contribute, and that is essential to functioning as a healthy group. What a true picture of what Christ meant for the church to be – not just coming and listening and being fed each week, but connecting, investing, and responding to the call to act.
