Day 2 - Kingdom Prayers

Day 2

Pastoral

Oh God, in 1 Kings 18, Elijah goes up against the prophets of Baal.  He declares that the God Who answers by fire…He is God.  The prophets of Baal cried out from morning to late in the day and nothing happened.  But Elijah even poured water on the altars, then said, “Oh, God, show these people that You indeed are God!”  When he prayed, fire from heaven fell and consumed the sacrifices.  Father, as we gather on Sunday mornings for Worship, Prayer, Testimony, Generosity, Preaching and the Sacraments, might Fire from Heaven fall and consume our hearts so that we are aflame with passion and commitment and service to You!  Might we find ourselves falling on our knees and exclaiming, “The LORD, He is God!  The LORD, He is God!”

Prayer for the Church Worldwide
“All authority has been given unto me in heaven and on earth. Go, therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded of you, and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” - Matthew 28:18-20

Heavenly Father, we pray for the nations of the world. We ask that You would send a great movement of Your Spirit across all nations and that the name of our Savior would be lifted high.  We ask that Your servants would faithfully proclaim the gospel and that Your Spirit would draw many unto repentance and faith. We pray that You would multiply Your church worldwide and that disciples will be raised up to Your glory. We pray for the faithful preaching and teaching of Your Word to all people.

Adult

God, your Word is truth. We need your Word to lead us into freedom and newness of life. Anoint, lead, and equip all who teach our Adult Discipleship Classes. Enable them to accurately open your Word for your people, so they might gain understanding that will them to graciously and authentically live as Christ followers in a world that needs Jesus.

Women's

I pray we will be revived in our passion for a deep relationship with God—his worship, his Word, and prayer. I pray we will recognize our position as daughters and ambassadors, as sons and brides: the joys and privileges, and the suffering and responsibilities. I pray we will be self-forgetful and Kingdom-minded—thinking of others as more important than ourselves.

Children's

Lord, as young hearts are transformed through your grace, we pray for Christ-centered discipleship. As they hear your truth, we pray it will change their life, deepen their faith and Lord-willing burden their hearts for the lost. We also pray Lord, that you would raise up disciple makers here at OMPC. That our parents and fellow adults within our church would be led to teach and disciple our children, point them to you and help them develop a grace-filled biblical world view.

“And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise.” - Deuteronomy 6:6-7

Youth

Heavenly Father your name is wonderful and to be honored. Would you by the power of your Spirit work in the hearts of this generation of students in such a way that would move them to a deeper understanding of your Name. Show them that you are not like the gods of men or this world. You are the creator God who gives them purpose in life and directs their steps. Help them know that by calling on your name and humbling themselves before you that you will show your faithfulness amidst any struggles they may have. May your Name be lifted up higher and higher in their hearts.

Mercy

Lord God: It is reported that 275 million children worldwide witness some form of domestic violence within their homes, give Your mercy to these families by transforming their darkness with your marvelous gospel light. Through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Missions

We pray for those members who are faithfully ministering the Gospel here at home:  Chris & Mary Granberry, Clerestory staff – Greg, Beth, Mark, Rob, Urban Avenues – John & Laura Lankford, InSpero – Gina Hurry & Nancy Carroll, and for the many members who serve or minister in a variety of other capacities.

Worship

Father in Heaven - we pray that you would grant to us the spirit of the Psalmist as he wrote in Psalm 67 - that You would be gracious to us, and bless us.  We pray for the nations that they would be glad and sing for joy and that all, to the ends of the earth, would know your blessing, pursuit and love.
