Father, we pray for whoever preaches the Word at OMPC on any given Sunday. We pray that he would be desperately dependent upon Your Spirit and never rest on any gifts or preparation. Help our preachers to rest only in the Power of Your Spirit and to believe that the moving of Your Spirit is vital to changed hearts. Help our preachers trust in the Power of the Word that is Living and Active and Sharper than any two-edged sword and to not put their hope in their preparation and their delivery. But Father, we also pray that Your people would enter Your gates with Thanksgiving, Your courts with praise..and would enter wit hungry, expectant hearts to hear from You. May Your grace be preached every Sunday at OMPC…grace as the message of Unconditional Love and Grace as the message of Your supernatural, transforming power in our lives.
Day 4 – Prayer of Thanksgiving
“In everything give thanks, for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you” - I Thessalonians 5:16
Heavenly Father, thank You for our many blessings in life. We know that You provide for the birds of the air, that the hair on our heads are numbered, our very many needs are provided for by You and that we enjoy Your love and grace in our daily lives. We praise You for our Savior, His love for us, Your word which guides us, the comfort and role of the Holy Spirit in our lives and all the many worldly blessings that come from You. Teach us Heavenly Father to be grateful people who praise You “from whom all blessings flow.”
Heavenly Father we ask that you would protect our children. Keep them safe at school, at church and at all the many activities they are involved with. But more than earthly protection, we pray that your Holy Spirit would protect their mind and hearts from the temptations of this world. Bind satan out of our homes, classrooms and church. May our children put on the full armor of God in order to be armed for daily spiritual warfare.
“He who dwells in he shelter of the Most High will abide in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say to the LORD, “My refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.” - Psalm 91:1-2
Heavenly Father as you work out your will in the lives of the students help them to know that you will work out all things for their good and your glory. May they see that you not only will work out your will to the end but that you ordain the means to get them there. We don't understand your ways because they are so different than ours. Bend their wills to meet yours. Work in their hearts so that they will see that you have their best interest in mind. May they see that you are a faithful God and that they can trust you with their lives.
Almighty God: You are great, good, and gracious – we adore You in all your glory. Revive the hearts of Your people to see afresh Your majesty and enjoy Your presence alone as their rich heritage and excellent portion. In Christ’s matchless Name. Amen.
We pray too for those whom you are using from our congregation to coach & support those working at home and abroad: Bob McNabb & Jim Doggett with Launch Global, Mark Guzzo with WellSpring.
Father, we are grateful for the impact that Westminster has in the lives of so many families and children. We pray for the teachers and staff that they would model a grace filled life to these children that they might grow and mature to become men and women who embrace and live out their faith wherever you call them in the world.
Father we pray for our worship choir, kids choir, praise bands and tech teams as they strive to serve together as one worshipping body and lead OMPC to Your glory, and to Your gaze. Would you protect families as they strive to serve? Would you free up schedules to allow some margin for service? Would you compel those with musical gifts that are still sitting in the pew to reach out and get involved? And of course, would you do all of this for Your honor and Your glory alone.
Father, we live in a day of extreme busy-ness and over scheduling. For many men this produces isolation and going life alone. Yet you made us to need community and relationships. We ask that through our men’s small groups, men would find life giving relationships that would propel them towards becoming the husbands, fathers, and friends you designed them to be.
I pray that the purity of our behavior and speech will bring glory to God and enrich the world and the Kingdom of God, and that love of the world and the things of the world would leave our hearts. I pray that we will overcome fear and step into our God-shaped dreams and longings.
