• Welcome to Oak Mountain

We hope you'll join us Sunday mornings at 8:15 am or 10:45 am for worship. Our worship style is contemporary, with a programming balance of praise songs and traditional hymns of the Church. Our message each week presents the gospel of grace as it relates to our salvation and to our relationships with God and each other. Sunday School classes meet each week at 9:30 am.

July Prayer Focus: Christ Community Church

Focus: Christ Community Church  in Helena, AL   (www.cccbham.org)

Never did I imagine that setting up chairs for the worship service for Briarwood South (now OMPC) in the early 90’s would prepare me for pastoring Christ Community Church. But my greatest preparation for leaving OMPC and planting a new church was being saturated in gospel mission provided by Bob and my OMPC church family. I still miss and think of you guys often.

Our story began in 2009 in talking with Bob and Tom about my leaving staff and planting a new church. I witnessed first hand how church planting was prioritized and valued by OMPC as they knew that church planting was strategic in the areas of evangelism and providing new leadership opportunities for men and women. I love the vision of OMPC leadership to “show the gospel” in many nooks and crannies around Birmingham so that a gospel movement will continue in central Alabama.

Christ Community Church (PCA) began formal worship services around Easter Sunday of 2010. Helena was chosen because of its need and because it’s an identified community where we could impact the schools, businesses and neighborhoods. Currently we have members from Pelham, Hoover, Alabaster and Helena. It’s only a short drive from OMPC so if you are looking for a new church….

Currently we have 256 members and it is a joy every Sunday for me to see families growing in their love for the Lord and each other. There are many stories I have witnessed in our church relating to conversions and spiritual growth. Since my college days I have been convinced that life-on-life discipleship is one of the most effective ways to build mature, equipped followers of Christ and that is one of the key values of Christ Community Church. I feel a pastoral responsibility to equip every member with the vision and skills to walk with Jesus for a lifetime.

One of our current challenges is to establish a long-term identity in our community that positions us to provide ministry outside the Sunday morning service. We are meeting in the lunchroom of Helena Intermediate School currently but we are investigating the purchase of a building that would allow us to do so much more in showing grace to our community.

Here are some things to pray for us this week:
A greater vision for the Lord that would humble us and compel us.
The provision of a building or land that would allow us a permanent base for gathering and perfecting the elect.
Spirit-led leadership of pastors, officers and women who lead our church.
Spiritual protection from our enemy in our marriages and relationships.
Raising up of laborers to serve in every continent on planet Earth.

OMPC family, what we believe about the Lord and the gospel is real and true! He is to us what He has promised and every thing He has said will happen. What is man, that you are mindful of him, O Lord?

Thank you OMPC for your support and prayers for Christ Community Church
Phil Chambers, Pastor
