Years ago, I got a phone call. My Nana was dying. The doctors had finally discovered that my mother’s mother was sicker than we knew. The cancer was everywhere. I hope that sometime I can tell everyone how beautiful and amazing and funny and talented and unique she was. Although we lived in different states, we were quite close.

It’s hard for us to wrap our minds around the Holy Spirit. He’s the mysterious one in the Trinity (John 3:8). He’s a he not an it (John 14). He is not like the force from Star Wars or some cosmic, cloudy presence. He’s a person and, at the same time, he is the Spirit (Gen. 1, John 4). He is so mighty that he raised Jesus from the dead (Rom. 8:11). He is so powerful that he transforms our hearts of stone to hearts of flesh (Eze. 36:26). He gives life to the dead (Eze. 37). He’s so personal that he convicts individuals of sin (John 16:8). He’s the Holy Spirit...
