Summer is my favorite time of the year. I love warm weather and long days. But, summers are difficult in some ways. Some people, like me, who enjoy rhythm and routine find summers a little unsettling. Summer hours are weird, agendas seem different, school is out and people seem to travel more. In addition, many in our church take time for short-term mission trips. And, although much can be said on how and why mission trips are so important, I can testify that the encouragement that missionaries receive when they host short-term missionaries is valuable. One friend of mine said, “Regardless of what this short-term team actually brings to our ministry, your presence reminds me that I’m not alone in this…and sometimes I feel so alone.”
Short-term trips bring in a sense of partnership and even a sense of family in ministry.
We can confirm with Paul when he writes:
“I thank my God in all my remembrance of you, always in every prayer of mine for you all making my prayer with joy, because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now.” – Philippians 1:3-4
Please take a moment to learn what OMPC missionaries are doing and, perhaps, take some time pray for the work of the Lord on these upcoming trips:
