KINGDOM ORIENTED
“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”
Over the Fence, Over the Mountain, OverSeas
Every year we spend the last week of February focusing on what God is doing in and through our Global Missions Partners around the world. We host over a dozen missionaries who travel from all across the globe to spend the week with us and share stories of God’s work and faithfulness. Our prayer is also for our Ministry Partners to leave their time at OMPC feeling encouraged and inspired to continue the good work they’ve been called to do.
Take a moment to view some photos from the impactful week, when Missions was infused into every event and activity at OMPC!
SHORT-TERM MISSION TRIPS
This year we sent out over 80 youth and adults across the globe on short-term trips throughout the summer. In addition, we had four college students spend several weeks on summer internships in Australia, Africa, and Asia!

VBS MISSION PROJECT
While VBS Week is always full of fun and activity, a major focus of the week is our Mission Project. We encourage our VBS kids to get creative in thinking about how they can help raise money to fund the global missions project focus of the week, and every year we are BLOWN AWAY by our kids’ commitment to the mission + God’s faithfulness to provide!
This year’s project goal was to provide funds for a VBS-style camp in Bulgaria for children in an at-risk community, and we EXCEEDED our goal of $7,000, reaching nearly $11,000 raised!
SERVING OVER THE PEW, OVER THE FENCE & OVER THE MOUNTAIN
-
Our College & Young Professionals host an annual serve day in partnership with Christian Service Mission and/or Urban Hope Community Church.
Forerunners and Youth served at Christian Service Mission on Veterans Day.
Our Forerunners continue to serve our ministries “over the pew” by assisting Oak Kids with taping eggs for the Eggstravaganza, wrapping Angel Tree Gifts, sorting Missionary Care Gifts purchased/donated by our church members, and more!
-
For years OMPC has sponsored 250 Thanksgiving Boxes that are packed and distributed by Urban Hope Community Church and Christian Service Mission. This year was no different as our church fulfilled the 250 boxes in less than 2 weeks and then sent a team to help pack and distribute the boxes on the Saturday before Thanksgiving.

While our original vision for Harvest House has not been fulfilled (temporary housing for incoming refugees), we continue to use the space to host events for our former families who have stayed there, we hosted a family needing temporary housing while the mother received cancer treatment at UAB, and even the male Youth Interns were able to stay on campus and live in the house for the summer.

This year we provided more gifts than ever before through Angel Tree! These gifts were given to individuals and families connected to a local ministry, Oak Mountain Missions.
Also receiving gifts through Angel Tree were the refugee families we continue to support through the Harvest House Ministry. They shared with Missions Pastor, Tom Patton, that they have never experienced such generosity in their entire lives.
FAITH PROMISE MAGAZINE, issue 1
This year our Missions Department published the first edition of our Faith Promise Magazine, a publication with impact stories of how God is working in and through our Ministry Partners around the world. The publication also includes all of our ministry partners, where they serve, and how the money given by OMPC toward Faith Promise is having ripple effects for the Kingdom! This magazine made a huge impact on the congregation, inspiring us to continue to pray, give, and go and “moving the needle” even farther along in fulfilling our Kingdom Oriented value as a church! Due to the sensitive nature of some of our ministry partner locations, we cannot share a link to this publication online. However, copies are available to pick up in person on Sundays at OMPC!
