US MINISTRY THROUGH OMPC
US MISSIONS CONFERENCE
Join us for our 2025 US Missions Conference - two Sundays in October when we celebrate all God has done and is doing through our US Ministry Partners! This is an opportunity to not only be inspired by the Lord’s work here in Birmingham and in the United States, but also consider how you might join Him in His Kingdom work right here in our city and nation! Take a moment to read through our guest speaker’s bio, and familiarize yourself with our US Missions Areas of Investment. We’ll hear from our Ministry Partners during our 9:30 am Sunday School both Oct 19 & 26, and we’ll also get the opportunity to connect with all of them over breakfast at 9:30 am on Oct 19 in the Missions Center!
Rev. Elbert McGowan Bio
Elbert “Pastor El” was born and raised in Jackson, MS. After graduating with a Mechanical Engineering degree from Alabama A&M, he worked for General Electric in Ohio. Having seen drugs devastate his family in Jackson, Elbert later witnessed God bring healing and transformation through the gospel, which led to his own conversion while reading the Bible in his apartment. His passion for sharing Christ grew into prison ministry, and after marrying his wife, Karen, he returned to Jackson to attend Reformed Theological Seminary. While serving at Redeemer Church, he helped launch Reformed University Fellowship at Jackson State University and in 2015 was called as Redeemer’s Senior Pastor. Elbert and Karen have two children, Karis and Tripp, and remain devoted to Jackson, its people, and God’s work of making broken things new.
CAMPUS MINISTRIES
CAMPUS MINISTRIES
We primarily support reformed Campus Ministries. Priority will be given to schools in Alabama or nearby locations able to serve OMPC members.
We are seeking to develop natural, seamless relationships between OMPC’s youth ministry, connecting students to solid campus ministries. The desire is then to see some of those students return join our Young Professionals ministry.

CHURCH PLANTING
CHURCH PLANTING
Emphasis will be given to holistic church planting movements – Reformed/PCA church plants whose vision and strategy is to raise up and train pastors and to plant multiple churches. We now want to place greater emphasis on CPM’s also which have an emphasis on racial reconciliation, justice, and mercy.
We will support church planting efforts first in the greater Birmingham area, then in Alabama, and finally in other areas of the USA.

DISCIPLESHIP
DISCIPLESHIP
We will focus on ministries which disciple believers into deeper relationship with Christ, restore areas of life ravaged by sin and brokenness, or equip the saints for service.
We will provide ongoing support to a few Gospel-centered, Christian agencies providing relief, support, and even life for those who are distressed and oppressed.
These ministries are committed to serving the underserved in the name of Christ, with the hope of opening doors for the Gospel through both words and actions.
