9:30 am Sunday School Classes
Summer Classes May 31 - August 9
All Adult Sunday School Classes will gather in the Sanctuary at 9:30 am on June 21 to hear from our guest speaker, Dr. Richard Pratt, of Thirdmill. Thirdmill is an organization that OMPC Supports through Faith Promise. This ministry works globally to create and distribute high-quality, multimedia seminary curriculum in the majority of languages around the world. Their goal is to make seminary-level education available to Evangelical Christians in their own lands, in their own languages, for free.
Through his talk on the “Upside-Down Kingdom,” Dr. Pratt will speak on the pessimism that we experience in today’s culture & the world and will challenge us to consider we can be extremely hopeful as believers. In the same way that Jesus’ death brought life, the current situation in our world gives us opportunities to authentically live out the Gospel counter-culturally; to be a light in a dark world. The Gospel has impact, not because of our inherent power & influence but because of the Spirit’s work through the Word even in our weakness.
We will also hear how God is allowing the ministry of ThirdMill to play a role in that Upside-down Kingdom. Join us June 21 in the Sanctuary for this impactful opportunity!
Adult Age & Stage Classes
-
Instruments in the Redeemers Hands, Paul David Tripp
This class will use Paul David Tripp’s book, Instruments in the Redeemer’s Hands, to explore how ordinary believers can wisely and lovingly speak truth into the lives of others. Join us all summer to discover how you can care for yourself and your friends with Gospel hope and a reminder of the Holy Spirit's trustworthy work in the lives of believers.
-
Parenting: Nursery/PreK, Elementary, ParentU
This summer, we will explore how spiritual warfare impacts the family and how parents can respond biblically. Through a study of the Armor of God in Ephesians 6:10–20, we will discuss practical ways to stand firm in faith, strengthen our homes, and address the spiritual challenges facing families today.
Adult Intergenerational Classes
-
The Gospel of John: “The Beloved Disciple
John focuses mainly on the deity of Christ and includes events not mentioned in the Synoptic Gospels (Mt, Mk, & Lk) He also omits a lot of what is included in the other three. We will look at this book verse-by-verse and should be in this book for at least a year - maybe longer.
-
First & Second Corinthians
Come study the heart of the apostle Paul as he speaks truth into the midst of conflict and false accusations, and discover how the wisdom he offers can guide the complexities of our own lives and church today.
Second Half - The Royal Priesthood and the Glory of God
From Genesis to Revelation, the theme of the royal priesthood runs through the biblical story. It culminates with the creation of God’s new covenant people, called out of the nations to be his priests to the nations.
-
In this class, we'll lean into our limitations and explore biblical themes and practices on how the Holy Spirit shapes us into a praying community. Our content will be based on scripture and teaching from Paul Miller and A Praying Church.
